Security ... think about it!
Manitoba is moving on a promise to outlaw body and vehicle armour gangs use to protect themselves against attacks by rivals. The NDP government has tabled a bill that would require anyone buying such materials to apply for a permit, explain why they need it and be subject to a background check. Those whose jobs require them to wear body armour — police officers, sheriffs and corrections officers — would be exempt from the permit requirement. The proposed law would also forbid people from installing armour, bulletproof glass or other measures to fortify a vehicle. And people or companies who sell such materials would need a special provincial license.
