Five people are dead following an assault late Tuesday by hooded gunmen who burst into a seafood restaurant in the Otay Mesa section of the city.
The wave of violence in Tijuana continues taking lives all around the city. Nine more people were killed in violent attacks Wednesday morning, raising December’s total so far to 70 and nearly 600 for the year to date.
A Mexican navy official says alleged drug cartel chief Arturo Beltran Leyva has been killed in shootout. The official says Beltran Leyva and three other suspected members of his cartel were killed in a shootout with sailors at an apartment complex in the city of Cuernavaca, just south of Mexico City. He says a fourth suspect committed suicide during the confrontation.
