The first Chinese in space, Yang Liwei has revealed in a book that dog meat was a part of their space diet during the preparation of the missions. The 44-year-old Yang created a record when he orbited the earth in the Shenzhou 5 spacecraft in 2003. His autobiography titled, ‘The Nine Levels between Heaven and Earth’ revealed the menu that was offered to the astronauts. The menu included braised chicken, steamed fish and dog meat.
