Philippine gunban arrest count

POLICE arrested on Sunday a candidate for municipal councilor in Tagudin, Ilocos Sur, for violating the election gun ban, bringing to more than 1,000 the number of violators who were arrested since it was imposed on January 10. George Lemi Sr., 57, an incumbent barangay chairman and confidential agent of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (Pdea), of Magsaysay, Tagudin, Ilocos Sur, was arrested by Tagudin policemen. Reports reaching the National Election Monitoring and Action Center (Nemac) in Camp Crame said Lemi is running for a seat in the Sangguniang Bayan of Tagudin, ILocos Sur.

Either they really need guns, their pols are really dumb or this is all a big smoke screen for a revolution (for want of a better term) ...
